This is week 2 of work! And I honestly didn't expect myself to be liking it so much thus far. Maybe because it's still the honeymoon period and we go home at 6pm everyday. Or maybe because I have met incredible people that are so just so nice! Everyday, the biggest decision I have to make is in deciding what to have for lunch and possibly what to do after work. After craving for days to eat wanton mee, I finally had the opportunity to eat this huge plate of wanton mee for lunch! There was probably more than 10 wantons in a bowl, all for $3! The noodles were also cooked to perfection. Haha, I shall not attempt to indulge too much else I would end up tipping the scales. This week training really drills us into the fundamentals of audit as we carry out a simulated audit on a case study.
Apparently audit requires all sorts of cross-referencing from physical documents to leadsheets. Putting aside the long hours and the mundane routine aspects of the job, I really question my capability to be so meticulous and inquiring! Looking at all the assessments and trainings ahead of me, I can only grit my teeth and run.
The good part of Deloitte is it's culture of helpful and wonderful people and it's work-life balance. Tomorrow I will attempt to join its volleyball CPA team for training. I heard that they are really good! I hope I won't end up with multiple bruises. Haha. The badminton team is fun. And it does look like I'll be playing for Deloitte in the upcoming CPA games.
It's amazing to look ahead and realise that I no longer have long holidays nor prerogative to skip out whenever I feel like it. Initially I felt so apprehensive about starting, but swiftly, the workaholic in me kicked in and I can't seem to get enough of work! I hope I won't say otherwise in a few weeks time when I truly embark on my audit journey.
